Westwinds by Barrick Samplers

One last finish for April: Westwinds by Barrick Samplers. I stitched this 1 over 2 on some 36-Count Cream Edinburgh Linen I had in my stash. I used the Vikki Clayton conversions rather than the NPI silks. I love Vikki's silks, but I wasn't completely happy with the colours in this conversion. I had to change colours around here and there, and the main blue (Iceberg) should have been darker. Looking back, I wish I'd found a darker blue or used the original NPI (#745) for it. But not to worry, I'm VERY grateful to have the opportunity to use Vikki's silks, as they are sooo reasonably priced compared to the other silks out there.

Well, I'm off to see if I can get a bit of stitching in now. I started Atelier de Brodeuse by the French designer, Sylvie Tournier of Au Fil Des Reves today. My first time stitching on 40-Count linen and it's going great. :)

Apple Sampler by Birds of a Feather

Next up this month I finished Apple Sampler by Birds of a Feather. Absolutely loved stitching this too, and it was a very quick stitch. I did have to wait to finish it off as I had to order an additional skein of GAST Buckeye Scarlet (note that you will most likely need a 2nd skein if, like me, you stitch it 2 over 2). I used Lakeside Linens 32-Count Vintage Autumn Gold rather than the recommended Birds of a Feather linen (which always seems very difficult to order in). I've loved this colour ever since I stitched Japanese Montage a few years ago.

Winter in the Square by Just Nan

I completed this about a week after I posted the last time. I'm not terribly good at this whole blogging thing, am I? ;-) I loved stitching this - I have the next one in the series (Spring in the Square) all ready to go, and will start it soon. I used the recommended Light Mocha Cashel Linen and all the recommended threads (just DMC and a wee bit of DMC Perlé Cotton). Out of 28/32 Count linen I prefer 32-Count (especially Belfast), but I was worried that if I used a higher count the charm in the middle may not have fit.
